Abnormally Dry Conditions Return for Parts of the Lakes Region

The recent dry conditions and low humidity have put parts of the Lakes Region back on the map for the US Drought Monitor.

The latest map released on Thursday indicates that Barry and Stone Counties along with northwestern Taney County in Missouri as well as parts of northwestern Carroll and Madison Counties in Arkansas are once again at an Abnormally Dry Level, which according to the Drought Monitor indicates an increase of fire risk for those regions.

Higher Humidity for today in addition to Thursday night’s winter precipitation mix will help reduce the fire risk today but dry, windy, and low humidity conditions will elevate the fire risk for the weekend.
