Third class counties around the state have been awarded grant money from the Missouri Department of Public Safety.

In a release last week, Governor Mike Parson announced the approval of 70 grants totaling $5 million that will go to law enforcement, fire service, and EMS providers in those areas.

According to the release, grant funded equipment includes patrol vehicles, mobile data terminals, body cameras, firefighter turnout gear, extrication equipment, ambulances, cardiac monitors, pediatric resuscitation devices, and emergency communications radios.

Some of the grants awarded in the Lakes Region and other areas of southwest Missouri include:

Aurora Fire Department $ 10,327.50
Ava Fire Department, City of $ 42,042.16
Barry County, Sheriff's Office $ 20,947.50
Kimberling City $ 12,164.81
Monett Police Department $ 192,991.41

Funding for this public safety grant is part of Governor Parson's plan for Missouri's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and was made possible through Missouri House Bill 20 Section 20.150. The Missouri Department of Public Safety is the grant administrator.
