Several departments in the region are sending manpower to aid in the continuing fires in Douglass County.
The Central Crossing Fire Protection District from Shell Knob posted on Tuesday that they were sending firefighters to assist followed today by a post by Branson Fire Rescue, saying their department along with firefighters from the Southern Stone and Western Taney County Fire Protection Districts were also a part of the mutual aid task force.
Aurora and Pierce City has also sent firefighters to help the Douglas County efforts.
The fire began on Sunday as a control burn but re-ignited after strong winds blew embers that started other fires. Sheriff Chris Degase in a Facebook post and in a conversation with Ozarks First talked about the impact of the fire, including the evacuation of several homes, some which ended up being destroyed.
Weather forecast indicate conditions will actually worsen over the next couple of days and Degase echoes other officials in saying do not burn outside.
