The Branson Board of Aldermen had a detailed discussion at Tuesday night’s meeting about the upcoming Autumn Daze Craft Festival.
Discussions have been held over the last few months about the possible relocation of this festival as well as the spring Plumb Nellie Days because of the impact on businesses, parking, and traffic during the days the festivals are running out of the Awbery Parking Lot at Atlantic and Commercial Streets.
City Administrator Cathy Stepp said that city staff has been working with the Downtown Branson Betterment Association on possible alternate locations including the Convention Center Parking Lot and Liberty Plaza. The discussion with the Aldermen varied from the tradition of keeping at the same location to paying attention to the concerns of over 20 businesses that felt the festival negatively impacts their businesses. DBBA Director Jessica Luthardt did say efforts were made to move the festival this year and will continue to look at the alternate locations for next year’s festivals.
In the end, the Board did approve the event permit for the Autumn Daze Craft Festival on a 4-2 vote with Aldermen Clay Cooper and Artie Lucas voting against the permit.
The event will run September 19-21. More details on the discussion can be found on the City of Branson Website.
