While snow fall has ended, the impact will continue to last for several days in the Lakes Region, especially on area roads.
Taney County Emergency Management Administrator Chris Berndt, during an interview on a special Ozarks Now Facebook show this morning, said that the lingering cold temperatures will inhibit the roads from completely clearing. Even major roads like Highway 65 will still have snow on it for the next couple of days as temperatures will stay below freezing at least through Friday. Berndt says that sun will help break up the snow but the materials road crews use are not as effective in bitterly cold temperatures.
Berndt adds is is best for people to stay off the roads which will also help road crews but for those that must get out, plan on plenty of extra time for the trip and have protection against the cold if running into issues.
Berndt adds that while staying at home, make sure any space heaters used or clear of any obstructions and also make sure smote alarms are operating.
