BRANSON, MO (January 11, 2024) – Branson High School now houses the Judith Rethwisch Outstanding Theatre Educator. Erin Moody, theatre teacher and director, received this honor at the 2024 State Thespian Conference held in Kansas City.
Moody has been teaching with the district since 2015. Current seniors Kaleigh DeGarmo and Paden Higgins nominated Moody and presented her with a plaque at the annual conference. Moody is the first recipient from Branson High School to receive the Judith Rethwisch Outstanding Theatre Educator award.
“I feel so fortunate to have been recognized, and I am honored that my students thought to nominate me,” says Moody. “I have known my whole life that I was meant to teach. I saw how my parents positively influenced students in their years of teaching and I have always wanted to be that person for others.”
Named after Judy Rethwisch, now retired theatre teacher, the Outstanding Theatre Educator award celebrates the unsung heroes whose unselfish efforts and countless hours serve students and colleagues alike. Rethwisch served as the MO State Director from 1984-1993 and was instrumental in establishing Missouri Thespians.
