The City of Branson has set its priorities for the upcoming Legislative Session according to a press release from the City.
The Branson Board of Aldermen passed a resolution outlining the city’s legislative priorities for 2022 at their regular October 26 Board of Aldermen meeting, in an effort to state the city’s stance on a number of issues that will be heard on a State level that will have impact on the immediate needs of the City of Branson.
The City’s 2022 legislative priorities are as follows:
- Removing a ticket reseller loophole so that taxes are collected on the price paid on tickets, regardless of who brokers the transaction.
- Support changes to Chapter 315 of the Missouri Revised Statutes to improve the health, safety and living conditions of permanent guests in lodging establishments.
- Welcome the passage and adoption of statewide building codes to establish minimum standards to increase the safety and integrity of structures, thereby reducing deaths, injuries and property damage.
- Seek the establishment of statewide contractor licensing to establish certain criteria to prove reasonable competency in specific building trades like electrical, mechanical and plumbing.
- Support the establishment of provisions under Chapter 479 of the Missouri Revised Statutes to allow for the opportunity to create circuit-wide municipal court divisions that all municipalities can share in the prosecution of municipal ordinance violations.
