The Boone County War Memorial Association is preparing for another Memorial Day Ceremony as well as their continuing programs of education and support.
Lionel Cantu stopped by KHOZ's "Around the Table" recently to provide an update on the organization, which includes the upcoming Memorial Day Ceremony, held annual on the Square in Harrison. Cantu says he will again have a presentation during the ceremony which this year will highlight the history of Black Americans that have served in the military over the years.
Cantu also talked about the role the organization in the region, which was founded in 1987 for the purpose to erect a war memorial in Boone County which is also located on the square. Cantu added that the organization works with Boys Scout Troop 60 in putting the memorial bricks in downtown.
Cantu says the organization has both military and non-military members which is designed to honor those that have served their country who have passed away, whether during or after their service.
Cantu also discussed other aspects of the organization including their involvement in the annual Veterans Day Parade in Branson plus some of the history of different types of service to the country during the interview, which can be found on the Around the Table Facebook Page.
