The Branson Board of Aldermen give initial approval for an extension of a contract with Taney County for a Sewer Project.
During the November 23 Board Meeting, Utilities Director Kendall Powell requested the extension to retain the $85,000 that had been granted the City by the Taney County Regional Sewer District for improvements in the area around Country Bluff Estates. There is still one easement pending to be able to fully complete the project. With this extension of the contract from its original December 31, 2021 expiration to May 31, 2022, Powell says the can proceed to work on about 2/3 of the project while the easement that will take care of the connection to Country Bluff is secured. Powell says the delay in getting the easement is wanting to get drainage issues in that area resolved first.
There was an extensive discussion on the topic including from a resident that had earlier expressed some concerns with Country Bluff that were also voiced by Alderwoman Ruth Denham. Powell said that this project benefits more that just the Country Bluff area and eventually, the Board approved the extension on a 4-1 vote with Denham voting no. Alderman Jeff Seay was not present for this meeting.
Final approval of the extension will be a part of the agenda for the next Board of Alderman Meeting on December 14.
