Branson High School was among several in the Ozarks that was “Swatted” on Monday.
According to a post on the Branson Police Department Facebook Page, officers responded to the high school for a hoax call of a shooting at approximately 2 pm today. Officers cleared the building and found no credible threat after securing and searching the school.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells Ozarks First that several other schools received similar calls on Monday including Carl Junction, Carthage, and Ozark. No threats were found at any of those locations.
"Swatting" is the term used for Hoax calls being called to have Law Enforcement respond to a location where people at the location are unaware of what is happening.
