Branson High School Job Olympics: Competition Displaying Job Skills

For seven years, Branson High School has hosted an annual competition that has given students with developmental disabilities an opportunity to participate in a competition as well as make themselves known to potential employers.

Tracy Hall is Transition Coordinate for Branson High School and during a recent visit to KRZK’s “Ozarks Now” program, said she got the idea for the event to help students with developmental disabilities after hearing a presentation by an educator who had done a similar event. Hall said the event started out for Branson High School only but then expanded to include Hollister, and now features nearly 20 schools from southwest Missouri. Other Lakes Area Schools taking part with Branson and Hollister include Forsyth, Galena, Hurley, Reeds Spring, and Spokane.

The competition will feature the students taking part in job competitions to give prospective employers a chance to see what skills the students have developed and would add to the area work force.

The event will take place on March 27 at Branson High School.

More information on the event and the Branson Transition Program can be found on the Branson High School Website.
