In a story posted Thursday by the Branson Tri-Lakes News, the City of Branson has confirmed two members of the Police Department including Chief Jeff Matthews have been placed on Administrative Leave.
The information was confirmed to BTN Reporter Jason Wert by City Administrator Cathy Stepp.
“On Tuesday, October 25, both the chief and Sergeant Pat Gray were placed on administrative leave pending an HR investigation,” Stepp told Branson Tri-Lakes News. “We have engaged the services of an outside organization to handle the investigation to ensure the highest integrity and fairness to all involved.”
Matthews became Chief of Police in March of 2018 after having served as an Assistant Chief in Arlington, Texas.
Branson Assistant Police Chief Eric Schmitt has been named Interim Chief according to the report.
