The Executive Director of Christian Action Ministries says the organization is looking for long-term donations to help make up for recently lost federal funding.
Michelle Dean has visited several Ozarks Dynacom Shows including KOMC's "Morning with Josh Grisham" program along with KRZK's "Ozarks Now" and the "Upside with Josh and Them." During those appearances, Dean has laid out what the cancellation of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Commodities means to local food relief efforts. She outlined that the impact is felt by the Ozarks Food Harvest Food Bank based in Springfield, which helps distribute food to local pantries including CAM. Dean said locally, the impact comes to around $300,000.
Dean said the trickle down effect is wide spread, from not having access to as much high protein food to having to shutting down two of their pantries and cut some staff positions. Dean also added that some other programs have been paused in hopes of bringing them back in the future.
Dean said CAM is encouraging people to make ongoing donations or investments into the organization. She added that a $25 a month donation can feed a family of four for a month.
