The City of Branson has selected their new City Administrator.
In a press conference held at City Hall on Monday, Mayor Larry Milton introduced Cathy Stepp to take over the role that had been filled the last few months on an interim basis by City Clerk Lisa Westfall after the departure of Stan Dobbins in April.
According to a follow-up release from the City, Stepp had previously served as the Environmental Protection Agency’s Regional Administrator in the Great Lakes states for nearly three years during the Trump administration and had served as head of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources prior to that. Milton had appointed Stepp to the City's Planning Commission in 2021 and had also worked for a time with the Ozarks Water Watch organization, now known as H2 Ozarks.
According to a report by the Branson Tri-Lakes News, the vote by the board to appoint Stepp was not unanimous as Mayor Larry Milton had to break a tie with Members Ruth Denham, Marshall Howden, and Ralph LeBlanc voting in favor of hiring Stepp while Clay Cooper, Cody Fenton, and Chuck Rodriquez voted against.
