Changes to residential water and sewer connection charges may occur.
Branson Mayor Larry Milton said the purposed changes came about after discovering that properties that switch to nightly rental status were responsible for paying a commercial connection fee in addition to the residential one that was already paid. The mayor added that it "didn't seem to make a lot of sense" because a connection fee had already been charged to the property and while water usage changed the property itself did not.
The mayor called it "unfair." His purpose was to revisit 2023 and reimburse anyone who received such a charge. City Administrator Cathy Stepp shared a final point.
She said newly constructed nightly rental properties will receive a commercial connection fee. The amendment to this part of city code will undergo the drafting process and considered by the board at the next meeting.
