Voters in Coney Island, Hurley, and Reeds Spring are among those that passed a Use Tax during Tuesday’s Municipal Election.
Richard Sheets, Executive Director of the Missouri Municipal League, talks about the issue during and interview on KRZK’s “Ozarks Now” program says the issue passed allows those communities to collect their local revenue from the state for online purchases in their community. Sheets says the Missouri Legislature last year passed a Law requiring out-of-state vendors to collect the tax. Previously, it was up to the individuals making the purchase to pay the tax directly to the government entity.
While several communities passed the ballot issue Tuesday, voters in Ozark County defeated the measure.
