BRANSON, Mo. — A scenic overlook on Highway 248 in Branson is seeing some new life. Restoring Chula Vista is the new passion project of Matt and Janet Bass.
The couple bought the land at the end of May and have been enjoying the process of uncovering the view and learning about the history.
“It was the main road into Branson,” said Janet Bass. “So that’s why this was a touristy place, because it was on the way in.”
Chula Vista was once a tourist location with a scenic overlook and gas station selling things like baskets and boasting tales of white bats.
“We haven’t found any white bats yet,” Janet Bass said. “But maybe this fall we’ll do some exploring and down in the woods.”
