A reminder that today is the first day for Daylight Saving Time in which time was advanced one hour overnight in most parts of the country.
Daylight Saving Time is scheduled to run until November 3rd, although legislation has been introduced both nationally and in several states to end the practice and stay in Daylight Saving Time permanently, though no bills have been passed to this point. The states of Arizona and Hawaii are among those parts of the U.S. not observing Daylight Saving Time.
Fire officials across the country remind people every year to use the changing of the clocks to make sure Smoke and Carbon Dioxide Detectors are working properly which includes the changing of batteries in the units.
