More rain for the Lakes Region continues to drop the drought level in some areas according to the latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor.
The area of Severe or Level 2 Drought has decreased overall, though it still covers most of Boone, Carroll, Madison, and Newton Counties in Arkansas as well as most of Stone and part of Barry County in Missouri. Other parts of the region, including Taney County and the Branson area, have seen a reduction to Moderate Level which also includes Marion and Searcy Counties in Arkansas. Areas of Bull Shoals Lake in Missouri shows even a lower no drought level.
Recent rainfall as continued to decrease the drought conditions raising water levels and getting enough moisture on the ground that most of the Burn Bans that were in place have now been lifted.
More rain is heading to the region for the end of the weekend into early next week.
