The continued dry and hot weather leads to the increase in drought conditions around the region.
The National Weather Service in Springfield on Thursday released updated information that shows the entire Lakes Region in Missouri to be in a moderate drought condition. Cory Rothstein from the NWS Office said during a recent interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program that after a slight chance of rain on Sunday, humidity levels will go up again with both temperatures and heat index readings expected to be 100 or above for much of the week.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service in Little Rock has also released an updated Drought Report indicating all of northwest Arkansas is also in a Moderate Drought Condition. The NWS/Little Rock report also indicates very little relief in sight for the remainder of the month.
