Final Round of Severe Weather Spawns Tornados

The final round of severe weather that moved through the Ozarks Wednesday spawned several tornados including one near the Lakes Region.

According to a release from the National Weather Service office in Springfield, a NWS Survey team confirmed that an EF-1 tornado occurred southeast of Monett in northern Barry County and tracked northeast into southern Lawrence county before lifting southeast of Aurora. Damage reports submitted to the weather service indicates that several trees were uprooted with several buildings damaged including a mobile home that was flipped over. Several roofs were damaged during the storm as well. 

The tornado was on the ground for over 10 ½ miles with the width measuring 150 yards. Peak winds were reported at 95 MPH for the tornado that remained on the ground for around 20 minutes. 

Meanwhile, among the other tornados that developed was one in southern Arkansas. The National Weather Service office in Little Rock confirmed that an EF-2 Tornado touched down near Lake Hamilton south of Hot Springs on Wednesday morning. Peak winds in that tornado were at 120 MPH and the twister was on the ground for over 12 miles.
