Branson's aldermen approved a first reading of an ordinance that will change the 2024 budget during Tuesday night's board meeting.
According to the staff report, That change will allow for the transfer of "funds from the Tourism Tax Fund to the Capital Projects Fund. In short, it will help cover expenses tied to the campground expansion.
The immediate items covered are utility infrastructure and a road. The staff report provides further details:
Seventy-five percent of the tourism tax collected pursuant to the Branson Tourism Tax provided by §94.800 et seq. shall be used for constructing and maintaining infrastructure improvements. The proposed campground expansion is a key development aimed at enhancing our community’s appeal to tourists. The funds will be used for construction of infrastructure improvements to the new campgrounds for roads and utilities. These infrastructure improvements are critical to ensuring the project's success and aligning with our long-term tourism strategy.
