The City of Forsyth Board of Aldermen votes Monday to hire former Branson Police Sgt. Pat Gray as their new Police Chief.
Gray resigned from the Branson Police Department last week after having been placed on Administrative Leave along with Chief Jeff Matthews for alleged misconduct. Matthews also resigned his position last week.
At a press conference announcing Eric Schmitt as Branson’s New Police Chief, a question was asked if anyone from the City of Forsyth had contacted Branson about Gray and City Administrator Cathy Stepp answered no.
Meanwhile, Gray was interviewed by a City of Forsyth Hiring Committee to fill the Chief Vacancy created when David Forrest resigned in October. In a summary of the meeting from the Branson Tri-Lakes News, the hiring committee recommended Gray for the job and the Board of Aldermen approved the hiring on a 3-1 vote. Missi Hesketh cast the only no vote citing the Branson Investigation as her reason.
Gray tells Branson Tri-Lakes News he looks forward to serving in his home community and though he couldn’t comment specifically, he said during the Tri-Lakes News interview that he believed his part of it was complete.
