Grant funds removal of invasive and dangerous trees at Branson Parks

The City of Branson’s Parks & Recreation Department has received a grant from the Missouri Department of Conservation to remove invasive tree species, hazardous trees and other nuisance plants at six parks that will help grow and maintain the parks for years to come.

The money was awarded through the Tree Resource Improvement and Maintenance (TRIM) grant program. TRIM grants offer cost-share funding for government agencies, schools and nonprofit groups to manage, improve or conserve trees on public lands.

Tree and other vegetation removals have already begun. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of February for the following parks:

North Beach Park                                           Branson RecPlex

Alexander Park                                               Stockstill Park

Branson Lakeside RV Campground               Eiserman Park

“Winter is the optimal time to prune and remove trees along with many other plants. We are thankful for this TRIM grant because it allows us to be more proactive in the management of our local urban forest,” said City of Branson Landscape Specialist, Amy Jackson.

Replacement trees will be planted beginning this spring. North Beach Park will be closed February 9-10 to remove and trim trees. For more information, please contact that Branson Parks and Recreation Department at 417-335-2368.
