Heavy Rain Continues Today, Areas Flooding UPDATE

UPDATES: Flood Warnings in Missouri including for Barry, Stone, Taney, and Ozark Counties extended until 2:00 Saturday morning. The Flood Warnings have also been extended for the James River at Galena and Boez through the weekend with both locations expected to crest above Flood Stage at 25 and 17 feet respectively overnight before receding over the weekend.

Several areas had Flash Flood Warnings posted into the overnight hours including parts of Carroll County between Eureka Springs and Beaver while most of southern Missouri were under Flash Flood Warnings Thursday evening and early this morning. Some Flash Flood Warnings were issued later Friday morning and early afternoon for parts of Newton and Searcy Counties.

Most of those have been replaced today by Flood Warnings while a Flood Watch remains in effect for the entire day.

Several roads are showing as closed by the Missouri Department of Transportation this morning including Highway 413 between the intersection with 248 and 176 in Galena to Crane while Highway 37 in Cassville is also closed this morning. Several other county roads in both Stone and Barry Counties are closed. The National Weather Service is also reporting flooding along the James River both in Galena and around Boaz.

Due to flooding, schools in Galena and Hurley are closed today.

Besides heavy rain, strong to severe thunderstorms hit the Lakes Region with multiple warnings issued late Thursday night. Reports to the National Weather Service included hail damage to roofs in the Cape Fair area with trees and powerlines down in several locations between Ozark and Saddlebrook around the Christian/Taney County Line. 60 MPH winds were reported in Bradleyville with some trees and powerlines down in nearby Garrison.

Rain will move out overnight with sunny condition expected over the weekend with high temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s.
