At Tuesday night’s Board of Aldermen meeting, there was a presentation and discussion about various fees.
This was a continuation of the Sept. 23 study session of this year. During his presentation, Joel Hornickel said there is no recommendation to increase fees. This savings comes as a result of Citizen Serve software. Because of Citizen Serve’s efficiency, the City is able to save two employees. While discussing residential building permits, Hornickel said that the City is recovering 89% of its costs.
There is no current fee for land disturbance permits. Hornickel said there are about five annexations a year and it costs $500 of staff time. $347 is the charge and 69% of that is being recovered. Branson charges $760 for zoning and is recovering about 93%. Hornickel said there is only one planning and development a year, usually amendments or repeals. The fee is $1,089 and 89% of that is being recovered.
Hornickel then talked about subdivisions. Minor is a subdivision dealing with lot splits and condominium splits. Branson has about 20 to 25 of these a year. The fee is $170 and Branson is recovering about 50% of it. Street vacations occur once a year with a fee of $722. 88% is recovered by Branson.
