A truck theft in Taney County turns into a shootout in Ozark during the day on Tuesday.
Ozarks First reports the incident began Tuesday morning when a man stole a truck from a convenience store in Taney County then drove to Ozark and abandon the vehicle and attempted to steal another vehicle from a homeowner at gunpoint. That homeowner was able to call 911 at which point the man fled as Christian County Deputies arrived on the scene leading to a manhunt that involved officers from surrounding areas including Stone County as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The suspect was located around 3:30 on a road south of Ozark near Selmore which resulted in the suspect barricading himself in a building and exchanging gunfire. Eventually, the Greene County SWAT Team fired gas into the building and the suspect surrendered.
The name of the suspect has not yet been released. One Christian County Deputy was shot during the standoff but is expected to make a full recovery.
