The co-founders of Silver Dollar City are honored with an award named for a former Missouri Governor and Senator.
Jack and Pete Herschend received the Kit Bond Leadership Award during a ceremony earlier this month at Big Cedar Lodge.
The award is presented to the Hawthorn Foundation, an organization founded through the efforts of Missouri's former Governor and U.S. Senator Christopher "Kit" Bond. According to the foundation's website, the organization was formed in 1982 through efforts by Bond while he was governor to form a partnership between business leaders and state government aimed at attracting, promoting, and retaining business within the state of Missouri.
The Herschends were recognized for their efforts individually and jointly to promote and develop business in the state through the creation of Silver Dollar City and Herschend Family Entertainment.
Current Missouri Governor Mike Parson was among those that attended the ceremony.
A recap of the event can be found on the Branson Tri-Lakes News Website.
