An Ozark County judge has thrown out the lawsuit of an alleged Kanakuk sex abuse victim on statute of limitations grounds.
Judge Raymond M. Gross, who had been specially assigned to the case that was moved from Taney to Christian County, dismissed the claim of Logan Yandell on Friday, Jan. 17. Gross said the claims were “time-barred,” meaning they were made after the expiration of the statute of limitations. He also ruled Yandell, “cannot establish actionable fraud or civil conspiracy against these defendants.”
The case was filed by Yandell alleging that Joe White, the CEO of Kanakuk, lied to his parents when the family accepted a settlement from the camp which included a non-disclosure agreement. Yandell said his family would have continued to fight had they known White allegedly lied to them when he said the camp leadership had not known anything about child molester Pete Newman’s actions while working for Kanakuk.
