Freedom Fest is on July 1 beginning at 8 a.m. in Alpena, Arkansas, according to Jody Marshall.
Marshall appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the event. He said this is the third year in the festival's history. "It keeps growing, getting bigger every year," Marshall said. He added that Alpena Mayor A.J. Womack thought of Freedom Fest.
Marshall said the mayor wanted to bring the community together. Festivities start at 8 a.m.
He said that the first activity is chainsaw carving demonstration at 8 a.m. That is conducted by Roy Jackson and his daughter Jessica. It's estimated to last an hour to an hour and a half. "They create beautiful stuff," Marshall said.
After that, Freedom Fest has a kids 15 and under fishing derby from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Registration for this is at 8 a.m. No fishing license is needed, but anyone with a fishing license can't participate in the derby.
Anyone wanting to participate needs to bring their own fishing poles, chairs and bait. That event is three hours long, and an award presentation will follow it at 12 p.m.
A car and motorcycle show starts at 10 a.m. This is the first year motorcycles have combined with the car show; the festival has more events later in the day. More is discussed on the broadcast.
