The top elected official in the City of Hollister is set to become the top appointed official in the city.
According to a release from the city, it was announced at Thursday's Hollister Board of Aldermen Meeting that Mayor Lamar Patton will replace Rick Ziegenfuss in the City Administrator's position.
During the meeting, Patton resigned as Mayor and is set to take the position as the City's Economic Development Director on Monday. He will spend the next several months training under Ziegenfuss, who previously announced he would retire at the end of April of this year.
Patton will officially take over the Administrator's Role next January. In an interview with Patton on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program, the one-year time period follows established Missouri State Ethics Guidelines for a Mayor to transition to a City Administrator's position. Deputy City Administrator Denise Olmsted will handle Administration duties with the Board of Aldermen during that time.
Also at Thursday night's meeting, Ward 2 Alderman Jeff Long was voted on by the Board to fill Patton's unexpired term as Mayor. Long was appointed to the Board in 2023 to fill the unexpired term of longtime Alderman David Willard when he stepped down. Long was elected to the seat in last year's Municipal Election.
Patton said that the board will soon select a replacement for Long in Ward 2.
