One of Branson’s most popular Christmas attractions, Lights of Joy Christmas Drive-Thru, announces in a press release that they will have a completely new Christmas drive-thru in 2021
“Every major display, every piece of animation, every arch and tunnel will be replaced,” says Steve Hager, manager of Lights of Joy Christmas Drive-Thru in the press release.
Though this is not their first change, it is by far the most extensive. Every year since opening, Lights of Joy has changed out numerous displays. “We want to keep the light displays fresh and exciting. Not only did we swap out a lot of displays every year, but we added many more. This year, however, everything is new. This is really exciting for the community,” said Hager.
Hager takes pride in the drive-through each year. “We know how important Christmas is to the community. Memories are made here. Whether it’s a family, motor coach group or a group of friends this is an annual tradition for thousands. We will have a variety of displays and themes. We will have some returning favorites, but they will still be new and different from the past.”
Work began this week on putting up the new displays. It takes a big crew and a lot of coordination to put the Christmas light drive-thru on. Some of the displays are over 20 feet tall. “When you are in your car you don’t always realize how big these displays can be.”
In 2020 Bobvilla.com included Lights of Joy Christmas Light Drive-Thru in their top 11 Best Drive -Through Christmas Light Displays in America.
Lights of Joy Christmas Drive-Thru is located just north of Sight & Sound Theatre. Guests can enter the attraction at the corner of Shepherd of the Hills Expressway and Expressway Lane. Lights of Joy will open 5-11 PM, nightly, from November 1st through January 2nd. The cost is $20 per car on Monday nights, $25-30 on other nights. There are also rates for minibuses, limousines, and motor coaches. “The Lights of Joy Christmas Drive-Thru is easily accessible for motor coaches and limos with no hills too steep or corners too sharp,” Hager said.
A special preview night will occur on Saturday, October 30th with the Tri-Lakes KLIFE Lights of Joy 5k run to go through the Lights of Joy. The run will start at Westgate Resorts and will be a fundraiser for Tri-lakes KLIFE. People will be encouraged to put on their favorite Halloween or Christmas costume.
