Man Charged in Shooting of Stone County Woman

A woman suffers a gunshot would over the weekend with a Barry County man charged in the incident.

According to a release from the Stone County Sheriff's Office, the shooting took place Saturday night with officers being called to a residence on Nellie Lane around 10:50. Deputies discovered a woman with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported to a Springfield hospital for treatment of her injuries. Her name and condition were not released in the report. 

After an investigation resulted in the identifying of 20-year-old Angelo James Lumetta as a suspect, Stone County Deputies received assistance from Barry County Deputies in locating Lumetta. 

The sheriff's office also received assistance from the Missouri Department of Conservation in for the firearm used in the shooting, which was discovered in a area near Persimmon Hill Lane and Trace Hollow Road. Further investigation indicates that Lumetta may have been involved in a burglary in the past at that location. 

Lumetta is charged with a Class A Felony of Assault in the 1st Degree and is being held without bond in the Stone County Jail in Galena.
