Man Charged in Tuesday Shooting Incident

A man accused of shooting at law enforcement officers for several hours in southwest Missouri has been charged with 12 felonies.

Jenson Wayne Faught, 33, was charged with multiple counts of first-degree assault and armed criminal action after the confrontation Tuesday in southern Christian County near Ozark. He pleaded not guilty on Thursday.

A probable cause statement said Christian County sheriff’s deputies went to the area after a man reported someone had pointed a gun at him and tried to steal his truck before running into the woods, The Springfield News-Leader reported.

Officers from several jurisdictions responded after Faught hid in a shed and fired several times from multiple weapons, according to the statement. A Christian County Sheriff’s Office deputy was hit with shrapnel or a projectile but was not seriously injured.

The confrontation ended after several hours when chemical agents were fired into the shed.

Faught is being held in the Christian County Jail.

The incident started after Faught allegedly stole a vehicle in Taney County and abandoned it around Ozark before trying to steal another vehicle.
