Marion County Man Among Those Pardoned for January 6 Capital Riot Involvement

A small business owner from Marion County was among eight Arkansans recently granted a presidential pardon for actions at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021.

John Thomas Mott of Flippin served 30 days in federal prison after pleading guilty to parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. As part of a plea agreement, other charges against him were dismissed. Mott was also ordered to pay $500 in restitution for damages to the historic Capitol and costs incurred by the U.S. Capitol Police.

On Monday, during the first day of his second presidency, President Donald Trump issued over 1500 pardons and placed a stop to further investigation and prosecution to the events of January 6.
