A program coordinated through the Missouri Department of Conservation continues to help area Food Pantries.
Quenten Fronterhouse, Taney County Agent for the MDC, says during a recent interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" that the "Share the Harvest" program helps pantries in Christian, Douglas, Ozark, Stone, and Taney Counties and is funded by the Missouri Conservation Commission and White River Valley Electric Cooperative. Hunters who harvest Deer but does not need or want the meat can take it to Oldfield Packing south of Sparta in Christian Country. It will be processed then delivered by Conservation Agents to pantries in the area.
Fronterhouse says a 400 pound donation of deer meat was recently delivered to Christian Action Ministries in Branson.
The Archery Deer Hunting Season will continue until January 15 while the Alternative Methods Season will take place beginning Christmas Day and going through January 4.
