Branson Mayor Larry Milton declared Oct. 23 of this year Bobby Vinton Day.
Milton did that during Tuesday night's board of aldermen meeting. After military service and a success in music, Vinton established his presence in Branson.
Milton highlighted Vinton's impact on the city. The performer owned the Bobby Vinton Blue Velvet Theatre and played there for 10 years.
"Long after Vinton sold the venue, his indelible mark in the form of his initials “BV” would be emblazoned on so many parts of that theatre that they decided to name it the Branson Variety Theatre for a time," Milton said.
