Thanks to a Geometric Storm that is heading to Earth, the Northern Lights may be visible in the Lakes Region this evening.
The Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a Space Environment Watch for Thursday and Friday for a G4 (severe, a level 4 of 5, or the second strongest) geomagnetic storm. According to the release posted by the National Weather Service, that last time a G5 Storm occurred last May, the lights were visible with the naked eye in the Lakes Region.
Skies are expected to be clear tonight around the region. The NWS suggests for best viewing, get away from heavily lighted areas that may block out visibility.
