Ozark Mountain State Park Meeting Scheduled for Tuesday

A meeting about land in the Lakes Region purchased by the state of Missouri for Ground Water Preservation is scheduled for this week.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 5:30 at the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce office on Gretna Road to discuss the future Ozark Mountain State Park site located in Western Taney County that boarders areas around the Henning Conservation Area as well as the Highway 76/Ozark Mountain Highroad.

The state purchased the 1,011 Acres land in 2016 as part of Groundwater Restoration Plan to protect water resources. This area of land is a groundwater source that flows into Roark Creek. The land also contains some historic sites in relation to the former town of Garber and the Garber and Fronaberger School Districts.

Initial meetings were held in 2019 and with input from the public, a conceptual plan has been developed. That plan will be discussed at the meeting after which a 30-day public comment period will begin on Wednesday. The survey will be available online through the Missouri State Parks Website.

For those that can't attend the meeting, it will be streamed on the Missouri State Parks Facebook Page.
