Parson in the Lakes Region: Announces New Shepherd of the Hills Park, Visits Area School

Missouri Governor Mike Parson spent several hours in the Lakes Region Wednesday, including helping an area attraction celebrate a landmark.

Parson along with Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe attended the rededication of Uncle Ike's Post Office at Shepherd of the Hills which also included the announcement of May 4th as Harold Bell Wright Day in the state, honoring the birthday of the author of the book that is depicted in the Shepherd of the Hills play. 

Another announcement made was the renaming of nearby land the state purchased several years ago to develop a state park. The Ozark Mountain State Park will now be known as Shepherd of the Hills State Park. Officials at the dedication say work continues on the site with a full opening expected in 2024. 

Among the other stops Parson made was at the Gibson Technical Center in Reeds Spring, were according to a release from the school, the Governor spoke with both teachers and students about the importance of career and technical education.
