Scholarship Established to Help First Responder Children, Education

A first responder who was injured in the line of duty is now starting a scholarship fund.

Darin Carter, former Taney County Deputy Sheriff who was injured in the line of duty in 2016, along with his family is developing a scholarship that can help in several ways. 

During a recent interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program, Carter outlined the criteria for the Carter Family Hero Scholarship which could go to the child of a Taney County First Responder that has been killed or injured in the line of duty or to a Taney County High School Senior wishing to pursue a career in criminal justice, fire sciences, or emergency medical services.

Carter said the idea for the scholarship was a spin-off of the support offered to families of first responders from the Taney County 100 Club, an organization that Carter is also involved in that gives financial support in case of serious injury or death.
