School Threat from Kentucky Impacts Schools in Arkansas, Two Other States

Social Media Posts threating school violence gets the attention of officials in four states.

Several media reports indicate that a threat made on social media showed a weapon and ammunition and in the message, said a person was on their way to Marion County Schools. The threat was shared on several social media sites prompting action from several states with a Marion County including Arkansas. 

Yellville-Summit Schools posted on their Facebook that they had been informed of the threats and got word out to the parents, staff, and faculty via text and that students who wished to not attend classes would have an excused absence for the day. They also indicated that there would be increase police presence and other security measures in place for the next several days and continue to monitor the situation. 

A later posting from Yellville-Summit Schools indicated the threat came from Marion County, Kentucky and that the person responsible was taken into custody. 

Schools with similar names in Indiana and Tennessee also took precautions in light of the threats. Marion County, Kentucky schools cancelled classes for the day. 

In a separate incident, a post on social media Sunday night had made a threat to the Mountain Home School District. KTLO reports that Mountain Home School Officials are working with the Mountain Home Police along with assistance from the Arkansas State Police and FBI in investigating the threats.
