Second Drug Take Back Event Saturday

The second of the annual events to remind people of the importance of disposing of unused prescription medication is this weekend.

The DEA National Takeback event will be Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with Lakes Region Locations including Lakeland and Walgreens Pharmacies in Branson, Walgreens in Hollister, and the Kimberling City Police Department.

Marietta Hagen and Tiffany Setchfield help coordinate the local event for Taney County ADAPT, and during a recent interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program, that while prescription drug take back sites are open year, this event will give out additional information as to the locations of the year round drop-off sites as well as reminders of the dangers of opioid and other drug additions. There will also be some Deactivation Kits available to help people deactivate the effects of the drugs if they can't be disposed of at one of the sites.

Other locations available in the region include the Branson Police Department, the Boone County Sheriff's Office and Harrison Police Department, the OC in Ozark, and Walgreens in Nixa.

More locations across the country can be found on the DEA Takeback Event Website with the full interview from Ozarks Now available below:
