The storm system that brought in showers and thunderstorms to the region Sunday afternoon also ushered in the coldest air of the year and some snow in the region.
Snow flurries started flying through the air late Sunday afternoon then later, a round of light snow and falling temperatures now has created slick spots on area roadways.
The Missouri Department of Transportation Traveler Map indicates most highways in the region partially to mostly covered this morning while the City of Branson map still has most of the city's streets mostly clear.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation map shows most areas around Harrison are clear but some covered roads are reported south of Jasper and in areas north and west of Eureka Springs.
Many students in the Lakes Region are not scheduled to be in school today with the final day of the Christmas Break though a few schools in the Eastern Parts of the Lakes Region including Gainesville and Mark Twain are closed today.
Precipitation is ending today but the cold air will linger over the next several days with below freezing temperatures expected through Wednesday.
