SMAC to host ‘Moved by Maui’ photo exhibit

The Southern Missouri Arts Connection will host a photography exhibit inspired by sea life in June.

The exhibit, titled “Moved by Maui” features underwater photos of sea life creatures taken off the coast of Maui. Artist and Photographer Cameron Heilig said his aim with the exhibit is to bring more attention and love to the island.

Heilig, a Missouri native, was living and working in Maui a little more than a year ago when fires destroyed much of the island. After being displaced by the fires, he returned to Missouri, settling in Hollister. A portion of the profits from the sales of his photos will go back to Maui to help in continued recovery efforts.
