Missouri is the last state in the country to not be able to pass a new congressional map and it doesn’t sound like that will change anytime soon according to a report from Ozarks First.
Each time the clock ticks without a new map in place, Missouri could face another lawsuit. Already a handful of them has been filed and lawmakers say the deadline isn’t until the session ends in May.
So far, many in the Senate say they have no interest in meeting with the House to discuss the differences in the maps. The House passed their version of the map earlier in the session, but the Senate just passed their version a couple of weeks ago. While the maps have major differences in other areas of the state, both maps split Taney County with the Branson area remaining in the 7th District while the rest of the county moves into the 8th District.
