Urgency was the theme that emerged from the annual Lincoln Day Event at Big Cedar Lodge Saturday coordinated by the Taney County Republican Central Committee.
Candidates for County, State, and Federal Office Nominations in the August Republican Primary were on hand and those that spoke talked about the urgency of the upcoming Elections.
State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick, who is running for State Auditor, talked of the urgency in winning that office, the lone state office held by a Democrat. Fitzpatrick is one of the people vying to replace Nicole Galloway, who is not running for reelection.
Current 7th District Congressman Billy Long appeared at the event to promote his campaign for the U.S. Senate Nomination. Vicky Hartzler, another member of Congress from Missouri who is also seeking the nomination, was also on hand. Both Long and Hartzler, along with other candidates present, talked about the urgency to make sure the seat of retiring Senator Roy Blunt remains in Republican hands.
The Candidates looking to replace Long in the 7th District were also on hand to talk about their qualifications to succeed Long. Also discussed was the upcoming redistricting in both the state and federal districts. 8th District Congressman Jason Smith was present at the event with his district most likely to expand into much of Taney County when a new map is finally put in place.
State Senator Karla Eslinger also addressed the crowd about the state redistricting that will move Stone and Taney Counties out of the current Senate District represented by Mike Moon into her district.
The State Primary Election is on August 2.
