The Sharing Kitchen provides meals to anyone, according Joy Prater.
Prater appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the kitchen. It's run for close to eight years, and it's connected to Share and Care.
Now, the kitchen prepares almost 550 meals for a week. Prater said this isn't to say that that many people visit them for a meal.
People who come in are able to have up to two meals, but not everyone chooses to have two. She later added that they prefer to serve people in groups of two, three or more. Prater said this "was kind of a dream" of hers for quite some time.
She does "99%" of the cooking; she loves cooking, but she said that she had never worked at a restaurant.
She said she remains shocked that some people aren't aware of the kitchen. Donations to Share and Care are encouraged and always accepted; canned and non-perishable items are also needed. Prater said the ideal way to reach her is at sharencare72601@yahoo.com, and Share and Care's phone number is 870-741-3130.
More was discussed during the broadcast. The full interview with Prater is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
