The Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals honored two Branson administrators at the MAESP Leadership Conference last weekend.
Buchanan Elementary principal, Dr. April Hawkins, was named the Missouri Distinguished Principal of the Southwest Region. According to the MAESP, the Distinguished Principal of the Year award is open to administrators who have been a building principal for at least five years and set high standards for instruction, student achievement, character and climate for students, families and staff. Dr. Hawkins has been the principal at Buchanan Elementary for six years.
“I am grateful to work with such an amazing, dedicated team at Branson Public Schools,” says Dr. Hawkins. “I am honored to represent so many awesome principals across the Southwest Region who are doing great things for children everyday.”
Buchanan Intermediate assistant principal, Mr. Tyler Prochazka, received the title Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Southwest Region. Each of the eleven MAESP Regional Networks may nominate a MAESP member assistant principal. The assistant principal must demonstrate evidence of outstanding support and contributions to the school community. Mr. Prochazka has served as assistant principal at Buchanan Intermediate for three years.
Executive Director of Instruction, Dr. Mike Dawson says, "These two educators are extremely deserving of this recognition from MAESP. Both Dr. Hawkins and Mr. Prochazka make meaningful contributions to the community by creating a positive culture for student learning at Branson Schools.”
