Two people have been honored for actions they took during possible life threatening situations over the summer.
Cox Medical Center Branson Nurse Wendy Huston was presented with a DAISY Award for her actions in a potential kidnapping situation in June. According to information posted by Ozarks Dynacom from the City of Branson, a male attempted to take his infant son who he did not have custody of out of Hospital. Huston confronted him while security responded and the infant was safely returned to ward while the man was arrested. The award is presented by the DAISY Foundation to acknowledge efforts by Nurses for their accomplishments and actions.
Meanwhile, the Ozark County Sheriff's Department has presented a Lifesaving Award to one of it's Deputies for actions she took in July. According to a post on the Department's Facebook Page, Deputy Cecilia Boatner was dispatched to the Isabella area regarding an overdose. Upon her arrival, she observed a male who was unresponsive, blue and had a weak pulse. Deputy Boatner immediately administered NARCAN to the individual. The individual was then transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Ozark County Sheriff Cass Martin said in the post that Boatner's effort substantially increased the victim's chances of survival.
